WHAT IS LIFEINA?

LifeinaBox is the smallest refrigerator in the world for storing fragile medicines such as insulin or growth hormones.
Millions of people cannot afford to go on vacation or be away from home for a long time because their medicines have to stay refrigerated. LifeinaBox offers these people the ability to travel anywhere and anytime, knowing that their medication is kept at the optimum temperature between 2°C and 8°C.
Connected to an application available on iOS and Android, LifeinaBox is an essential tool for better drug management, as well as for the management of chronic diseases such as diabetes. The app tracks medication temperatures and battery life in real time.

Together with the instrument you will receive a cable to connect to the power supply in your home, a cable for your 12V car and an integrated battery that lasts up to 6 hours (depending on the outside temperature; optional second backup battery).

What is the internal dimension?
The exact measurements of the cavity are 180mm wide, 64mm deep and 40mm high. You should be able to fit 8 standard insulin pens inside.
What are the external dimensions?
Lifeina measures over 8 '' (22cm) wide, 4 '' (10.7cm) high and 4 '' (11cm) deep and weighs approximately 1.4kg.
What drugs can I use Lifeina for?
Lifeina is made for any drug that needs to be stored at a temperature between 2 and 8 ° C. This includes insulins, adrenaline, growth hormones, arthritis medications, and many more. Lifeina fits into pens, needles or pre-filled bottles.

UTILIZATION

LifeinaBox is designed for simple and easy operation. Just plug the correct power cable (car, mains or battery) into the side of the device, wait for the temperature to stabilize (about 15 minutes) and put the drug inside.

LifeinaBox comes with a 12V DC cable (for the car) and a 110/240V AC (for home or hotel). Additional optional batteries are also available (LifeinaPower).
Do not use cables from other devices, you could damage the instrument, compromise the effectiveness of the medicine and void the warranty.

If you are using Lifeina for glass medicine vials, we recommend placing padding material between the vials to protect them from accidental damage or breakage.

What is the temperature inside the Lifeina?
The environment in which Lifeina is used has a certain influence on its cooling capacity. Just like your home refrigerator, it will be less efficient when exposed to extreme conditions. Therefore, be careful not to keep the tool in very hot or very cold areas, as the car can become in summer or winter. Under normal conditions Lifeina will always ensure that medications are kept between 2°C and 8°C.

How can I check the internal temperature?
You can download the Lifeina app on Google Play or iOS or use the Lifeina web application on www.lifeina.org (Google Chrome only). With the app, you will be able to see the temperature and battery life, as well as have other useful functions.

How does Lifeina work?
Lifeina uses a technology called the Peltier Effect (thermoelectric cooling). This was originally discovered by a Frenchman with the wonderful arcane name of Jean Atanase Peltier in 1834. He discovered that if you weld many different metal cubes together and then pass an electric current through them, the friction caused by the different densities of the metals causes overheating on one side and cooling on the other. Then you get rid of the heat using a fan and attach the cold part to the inside of the instrument.

BATTERY

How to charge the Lifeina battery?
The battery must be fully charged before using the device.

Make sure the device is connected to the mains by connecting the AC adapter
Place the switch under the device in the ON position
Press the button on the side of the device for 5 seconds to turn it off (this will turn off the logo in front of the device)
Leave it on charge for two hours or more

During use:

  • Connect the Lifeina to the power supply and fully charge the battery (see above)
  • Turn on the instrument by pressing the button on the side of the device
  • Wait for LifeinaBox to reach temperature (about 15 minutes)
  • Put your medication inside
  • To use the Lifeina app, download the app and use it within easy reach of your Lifeina
  • Always let the air flow out of the louvers

How long does the Lifeina battery last?
Lifeina is equipped with an internal battery that lasts 6 hours, more than enough time for the journey from home to car and vice versa. For special occasions, you can equip yourself with additional external batteries (LifeinaPower).

NOTES ABOUT BATTERIES

  • If you plan to use the Lifeina at home, it is best to turn off the battery (button under the device) so that it lasts longer over the years. Then, remember to fully charge it before a trip!

WHERE AND HOW TO USE LIFEINA

Can I use Lifeina in the car?
Yes, absolutely. The tool is delivered with the cable for your car's cigarette lighter. Beware of very hot or very cold days! In this case the Lifeina does not ensure the internal temperature.

At what temperature can I use Lifeina?
We tested LifeinaBox up to an ambient temperature of 32°C. At this temperature, the interior stays between 2°C and 8°C without any problems. On the other hand, if you use Lifeina at these temperatures, the battery won't last very long. However, think about it, most of the time you will not stay in a temperature of 32°C.

Can I put the Lifeina in a closet or suitcase?
It depends on the size of the space. Just like a regular refrigerator, Lifeina cools by removing heat inside to dissipate it outside, so using the Lifeina in an area with little ventilation or air can lead to appliance malfunctions.
Can I use Lifeina in a standing position?
No. Observe where the Lifeina's air intakes are positioned and make sure they are never worn.

Will Lifeina protect my medicine from freezing?
This device prevents your medication from freezing and being below 2°C. However, the Lifeina must be used in normal temperatures, if used with outside temperatures below zero degrees, it cannot prevent your drug from freezing.

BY PLANE

Can I use Lifeina on the plane?
Yes, you can, but it's not designed for that. The Lifeina is designed for hotels, cars, offices and homes. Although in theory you can fly with the Lifeina, it is very uncomfortable. For this we recommend a passive medication bag (medication bags), they are much simpler and fit comfortably in your hand luggage.

Where to keep the Lifeina when I fly?
You should keep your medicine with you at all times, whatever the means of transportation. NEVER STORE YOUR MEDICINES IN THE SUITCASE THAT WILL END IN THE HOLD OF THE AIRCRAFT! If your baggage is lost, or your flight is delayed, it could ruin your vacation. Again, for air travel we recommend a medicine bag.

Can I put the Lifeina in my hand luggage when I take the plane?
No. The reason is that Lifeina is a refrigerator and needs ventilation; in fact there are openings under and on the side of the device. If you put it in a closed suitcase while it is in operation, the Lifeina will overheat, will not be able to maintain the ideal internal temperature and will fail. If you really want to take the plane using Lifeina, then you can poison yourself with the TRAVEL Bag, a bag specially developed for the Lifeina, with ventilation openings.

OTHER FEATURES AND TIPS

Is it possible to turn off the logo in front of Lifeina?
You may find that the logo in front of Lifeina is too bright, especially in a hotel room. You can turn off the logo by turning on the battery (button under the device) and then double clicking the button on the side of the device.
Alarm function
An alarm starts to sound when the battery drops below 20% charge. To deactivate the alarm click on the side button, then connect your Lifeina to the power supply as soon as possible to avoid an interruption in the supply of cold.

How much energy does Lifeina use? Can my car battery drain?
Lifeina uses 4.5 amps with 12V DC, almost like a single headlight in your car. This very low consumption cannot drain your car battery if it is used while the engine is running. However, it is always common sense to know if your car's battery is in good condition.
Download the app
The mobile application has been simplified as much as possible to make use as simple and clear as possible. From the web, by going to www.lifeina.org from Google Chrome, you can use your Lifeina directly from the site, with many more functions than the mobile application.
On Android: on the Play Store.
In iOS (Apple): Go to the App Store, and simply search for 'Lifeina app'. It is available everywhere.

After downloading the application on your smartphone:

  1. Turn on Bluetooth on your smartphone
  2. Turn on Lifeina
  3. Open the Lifeina app on your smartphone and follow the instructions

Why is there a red / blue flashing light on the side?
The small light on the side will be solid blue when Lifeina is connected to your smartphone or computer via Bluetooth. When it flashes alternately between red and blue, it means that your device is not connected to any device.
Is Lifeina waterproof?
No, Lifeina is like any other electrical device not specifically built to be waterproof.
